Position
Summary:

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for supervising the day to day work within a small -sized work group, with support and input from the Site Leader. Reviews and schedules work orders to ensure work flows smoothly and customer orders are fulfilled same day. Provides structure to work procedures and people assignments with consideration for time and budget constraints. Supervises and coordinates production output, schedules and key performance metrics. Accountable for quality, safety, productivity, and personnel.
Primary responsibilities include the development and manufacturing of specialty proteins, cell culture additives and highly specific immunoassay kits. Ensure work orders are fulfilled according to the local operations goals, troubleshoot routine problems in the department, keep abreast of appropriate rules and regulations regarding the handling of chemicals, and maintain proper records. Help employees achieve key performance metrics and production goals, using established guidelines, policies, and procedures. Support a culture of accountability and performance excellence.

Responsibilities:



  • Plan, assign and direct work; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve issues. Keep Site Leader well-informed of disharmony in the work group. Document details and offer solutions.

  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure appropriate training and awareness.

  • Ensure EH&S policies and procedures are followed and hold others accountable for a safe work environment.

  • Support ISO certificate and manage corrective / preventive actions. Hold self and others accountable for Quality.

  • Respond to inquiries regarding operation details (costs, methods, etc.).

  • Collaborate with other Thermo departments to ensure customer order needs are met.

  • Develop and maintain laboratory standard operating procedures and finished good bills of materials.

  • Recommend new products, new programs, tests, methods and procedures in collaboration with the Operations Manager and Product Development Manager.

  • Maintain training, calibration and QC testing records along with equipment service and repair records.

  • Maintain laboratory raw materials and supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels. Anticipate needed raw materials for production and laboratory supplies, notify Site Leader/Operations Manager when raw material and supplies need to be ordered and verify receipt of supplies.

  • Edit and maintain electronic timekeeping.

Responsibilities:


  • Follows all job required SOPs to ensure processes are being followed accurately and with quality as a focus.

  • Ensure timely follow up to all customer complaints, internal and external.

  • Complete all functions ensuring the best quality is delivered to our customers.


Environmental, Health & Safety
Responsibilities:


  • Adherence to all site EH&S policies, procedures and safe work practices.

  • Work with EH&S personnel to improve safety record.

  • Monitor employees adherence to EH&S policies.

  • Report all near misses and learning events through to site EH&S.


Minimum
Qualifications:


  • Bachelors or Masters degree in chemical or biological science.

  • Excellent analytical and laboratory skills.

  • Proven attention to detail. Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Able to effectively communicate with a variety of different levels of employees within the Company.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks and projects effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to keep and manage daily deadlines.

  • Strong computer skills are essential

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
